Anakbayan asks “Where is Noynoy, DOE?” as gasoline now up by P3 per liter for 2012

The national youth group Anakbayan swiftly condemned today’s oil price hike, noting that yet again, the Aquino administration and the Dept. of Energy have been caught ‘sleeping on the job’.

Effective this 6 AM, diesel prices will be increased by P0.30 per liter, while gasoline will be raised by P0.25 per liter. This brings the total increase in gasoline prices at P3.00 per liter. Several days before, the price of an 11 kilo LPG (liquified petroleum gasoline) tank was hiked by P66, bringing it to P833.

“Basta paghahabol sa mga artista, visible na visible si Noynoy. Pero kapag usapin ng presyo ng langis, para siyang buhok niya: nawawala” (If it’s about chasing female actresses, Noynoy is very visible. But when comes to the issue of oil prices, he is like his hair: fast disappearing) said Vencer Crisostomo, chairperson of Anakbayan.

He called on the administration to decisively act in controlling pump prices, noting that “If Aquino can mobilize his House allies to pass an impeachment complaint in a few days, he can certainly do the same to pass bills to repeal the Oil Deregulation Law”. ###
